The food & beverage industry in Canada is one of the most dynamic and diverse; from sustainable fisheries on the West Coast, to vast expanses of farmland and field, to the unique flavours of the Eastern provinces.

We’ve scoured the web, reviewed comments, and browsed social media posts in an effort to round-up what we think are some of the best food conferences in Canada. If you don’t see what you’re looking for under the provincial heading, check out our Virtual show listings! Many have been moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, at this time.

Restaurants Canada Conference 2021

Feb. 28-Mar. 3, 2021

Save the date. The Restaurants Canada Show is back Feb. 28 – Mar.2, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario. This 3-day event is Canada’s largest food service trade event, with over 18,000 hospitality professionals, restaurateurs & buyers under one roof. Over 1,00 exhibits and 200 speakers, on seven stages – this is an event packed with presentations, demos & seminars. Become inspired while you shop, taste, learn, connect and grow your business.

CHFA East 2021

Sept. 16-17, 2021
Toronto, ONT

CHFA East is Canada’s largest conference and tradeshow for the natural health, organic and specialty food industries. It’s the place to meet the industry’s top manufacturers, distributors and brokers, face-to-face. Cancelled in 2020, the 2021 event is planned to be held in-person in the fall.

SIAL Canada 2021

Sept. 21-23, 2021
Toronto, ONT

In 2020, the SIAL International Food Show was in its 17th year. It’s North America’s biggest Food Innovation tradeshow, and a popular event for those in the retail, food service and food processing industries. Typically with visitors from over 50 countries attending and over 1000 exhibitors, 2020 saw SIAL go virtual for the first time.

Planted 2021 (formerly Veg Expo)

Oct. 23-24 2021
Toronto, ON

Canada’s largest plant-based event of the year! Planted (formerly Veg Expo) brings together over 200 vegan edible and lifestyle businesses in one place – well, technically three places. With events hosted in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, there is no reason to miss out on this fantastic event.

Food Safety Summit 2021

Toronto, ONT

The 16th Annual Food Safety Canada Summit took place between April 1-2 in 2020. Dates for 2021 have yet to be released. This two-day summit includes topics like labelling requirements, traceability, importing and exporting, and defining ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ — More than 60% of the attendees at this event are food manufacturers, processors, or are in the retail and distribution field.

Food & Beverage Ontario Conference 2021

Toronto, ONT

The food and beverage market is big business in Ontario, generating over 40 billion annually. FBO’s annual conference is a chance for leaders and entrepreneurs to learn about changes in their industry and meet other movers and shakers. This event was cancelled due to COVID-19 for 2020; dates for 2021 have yet to be released.

UNFI Canada Central Table Top Show 2021

Exclusively open to current UNFI Canada customers and suppliers, the Central Innovation Showcase (formerly Table Top) is an excellent forum to discover new products and connect with industry partners

UNFI Canada Central Innovation Showcase 2021

The UNFI has been around since the 1970’s, and is recognized as one of the most effectively managed U.S. companies. The Canadian arm of UNFI host their Innovation Showcase every year, open exclusively to current UNFI Canada customers and suppliers. The Central Innovation Showcase (formerly Table Top) is an excellent forum to discover new products and connect with industry partners. Dates for upcoming shows are TBD.


British Columbia

Grocery & Specialty Food West 2021

May 11-12, 2021
Vancouver, BC (unless otherwise noted)

If you live on the west coast (or can find your way here with relative ease) then Grocery Specialty Food West is a must-attend. This event is a two-day conference & tradeshow held annually in Vancouver, British Columbia. Amongst the more than 2500 attendees, you’ll find representatives from supermarket chains, food manufacturers, independent grocers and more. Organizers are still aiming for an in-person event in 2021, pending given circumstances and restrictions.

BC Seafood Expo & Tradeshow 2021

Nov. 17-18, 2021
Virtual

One of the largest seafood industry trade events in the Pacific Northwest, the BC Seafood Expo & Tradeshow brings together suppliers, domestic and international buyers and industry leaders – and this year it’s virtual! Usually located and hosted on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the event has gone digital thanks to COVIF-19 restrictions. Companies can still meet International Buyers and other businesses directly, online, through their innovative new Virtual Trade Show Portal.

If you’re producing food in BC, then you’re probably aware of BCFB’s Food Pro West. It’s one of the best places to see all the innovations and quality products coming from BC’s food processing entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 the event was cancelled for 2020. Canadian Seafood Show 2021

The Canadian Seafood Show is an informative two-day conference with keynote presentations on topics such as sustainable methods, eco-responsible fishing, stock renewal and traceability. This second edition aims to showcase the Canadian pool to the world! The biggest players in the Canadian fishing industry will be present at this show, with an international component, as well.

CIFST Canadian Food Summit 2021

The Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology’s annual summit of food science and technology professionals. The 2020 event was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, however, it was announced that CIFST would be hosting an online exhibitor showcase – CIFST Coast to Coast: A Virtual Showcase, a virtual event to give industry suppliers a platform to promote their brands and connect with prospective buyers.
