We’ve combed through the websites, social media profiles and events pages of the field`s leading organizations to put together a list of what we consider some of the best ag shows in Western Canada.

AWCA WEST – ADVANCING WOMEN IN AG CONFERENCE

The Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference (AWC) was established for “every woman who is passionate about agriculture and food” and by 2017 boasted over 3,500 participants from 350 organizations. With a wide variety of speakers and workshops, this conference is only gaining momentum with both an AWC West and AWC East event scheduled for 2019.

CANADA’S FARM PROGRESS SHOW

With a 42-year history, Canada’s Farm Progress Show is always one of the industry’s premier events. Spread out across 1.9 million (!) sq. ft. of space in Regina, the three-day event features cutting-edge equipment demos and an industry-leading roster of speakers.

AG IN MOTION

Created to “empower farmers by providing the knowledge they need to make informed decisions”, Ag in Motion is a sprawling outdoor farm expo that gives attendees a great opportunity to see the latest agricultural technology in the field. Through a partnership with the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority, Ag in Motion also presents yearly Innovation Awards to pioneers in Plant and Soil Science, Animals and Livestock, Agriculture Equipment and Agribusiness Service.

ALBERTA LIVESTOCK EXPO

Featuring over 70 exhibitors, this show aims to highlight the latest “tools, technology and tactics to optimize all types of livestock operations, including swine, poultry, beef, dairy and more”. If that’s not enough to intrigue you, they also run a yearly Beef Rib BBQ competition.

AGRITRADE EQUIPMENT EXPO


Boasting over $150M in annual equipment sales and touring spending, and over 28,000 qualified buyers, the Agritrade Equipment Expo is one of North America’s most important ag shows. As it says on their website, they are the first post-harvest show, and, therefore, the first show of the new planning season, making the Agritrade Equipment Expo perfectly placed for producers: “farmers know what they have to spend”.

CANADIAN WESTERN AGRIBITION


How can you say no to a show that features a bubble-ball sheep-herding competition called “The Fleece & The Furious”? The pro-rodeo entertainment options are obviously a huge draw, but Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) is also a global hub with over 1,200 international guests from 86 countries.
